There are many different mod effects which can alter the way your chosen subclass plays, or the handling of your equipped power weapon - among many, many more. Some Legendary weapons and armour come pre-equipped with Legendary mods. For Exotic weapons and armour, this is always the case. Really, mods only become truly important once you’ve reached the Power Level cap of around 290-305.

Legendary mods are the only way of boosting your character from Power Level 300 to the cap of 305.How do I get hold of mods?You’ll earn Rare (blue) mods throughout your time playing Destiny 2. Engrams and Chests will often grant you a mod or two. Legendary mods can be obtained from Banshee-44 at the Tower, but only when your character has reached Power Level 280.All of the mods you’ve collected will sit in your inventory, and you can hover over them to see what bonuses they’ll give.Some weapons and armour come pre-equipped with Legendary Mods.What types of mod are there?There are two main types of mod: weapon and armour. You can slot mods into any piece of armour you own and every weapon type too.Mods have different perks that affect your character in a certain way, whether that’s increasing your Resilience or the reload speed of an equipped Kinetic weapon.

Understanding Banshee-44’s Legendary ModsLocated in the Tower, Banshee-44’s your go-to vendor for all things mod related, although Destiny 2 doesn’t do a fantastic job of explaining how doing business with him works. We’ve put together a simple breakdown to remedy this and make sure you’re making the most of what Banshee has to offer. As soon as you unlock Banshee-44 you’ll be able to spend 2500 Glimmer to purchase one random Rare Mod.

Banshee only starts dealing in Legendary Mods once you’ve reached Power Level 280. At 280 you can you trade in 3 of the same type of Rare Mod to Banshee. He will then convert this into 1 Legendary Mod of the same type. You can also dismantle a Legendary Mod into 1 Mod Component. You can trade in 2 Mod Components with Banshee and he’ll give you 1 Legendary Mod in return. The key part here, is that you can choose what type of Mod this will be: Armour or Weapon.

Trading in Mod Components with Banshee is the only way you can obtain the sought after +5 Kinetic Weapon Attack Mod.What are the best Legendary Mods to equip?There are a tremendous amount of Legendary Mods with all sorts of effects, so it’s very tricky to safely say, “You must have this mod”. It all comes down to your playstyle and preferences. Having said that, we can give you a little guidance into what mods to choose for both PVP and PVE scenarios.PVE modsAs you’re not needing to rely on twitch aiming, speed and finesse in Destiny 2’s PVE challenges we recommend you steer away from mobility, reload speeds and the like. Instead you’ll want to focus on upping the recharge rate of your subclass’ abilities for higher damage output, and perhaps some Resilience in there for survivability too.PVP modsWe believe PVP is where mods really shine and allow you to optimise your own playstyle.

If you’re a Hunter who wants to go fast - slap a ton of movement speeds mod on. Again, if you’re a fan of Hand Cannons, one which reduces their recoil could come in handy.Many Legendary mods focus on the little things that make such a key difference in PVP, so you’ll want to focus mainly on movement and weapon bonuses.Arekkz has a great video explaining Mods and gives some easy to understand advice on what you should be equipping on all of your gear. How to farm Weapon Attack modsWeapon Attack mods slot into your Kinetic weapon and raise their Power Level by +5. In general, they're pretty hard to come by and you won't just stumble into them when playing the game - you've got to actively hunt them down. This can prove pretty frustrating for those who've modded most of their equipment to get closer to the level cap of 305 but can't seem to get hold of a mod for their Kinetic weapon to nudge it even further.To help you out, we've put together a simple walkthrough based on Youtuber DPJ's video on how he goes about getting plenty of these sought after Kinetic weapon mods. First, you'll need a tonne of Glimmer.

Once you've dismantled them all, you'll have a pile of Mod Components which you can take over to Banshee-44. Select 'Create Weapon Mod' and Banshee could gift you with a fair few of these Weapon Attack Mods.

Doing this gives a good chance of receiving them as there's a pretty high drop rate from Banshee. After this process you might be a little thin on other mods, but not to worry! Use your pile of Glimmer to buy loads of Rare Weapon Mods back from Banshee and eventually you'll get enough to turn these duplicates back into Legendary Mods and replenish your inventory. Try to avoid spending all your Glimmer as it's quite a valuable resource and can take a little while to build back.

As 2016 moves along, fans of Bungie’s latest outing, Destiny, look ahead towards Destiny 2 (or whatever it ends up being called). Destiny offered quite a bit of content over its initial release and three DLCs.

The game even had a few free updates that helped to shake things up and bring players back into the fold. But, as time moves on, there’s less to keep players enthralled in the massive universe Bungie created.One thing that would definitely help are mods.

User-created content that adds new features or expands on what already exists. While the console exclusive game doesn’t offer the ability, we took the time to think of some mods that would make Destiny even better. Combat SparrowsSince launch, Destiny’s sparrows have provided nothing more than a means to get around. Sure there was that short period where you could show off your racing skills around Christmas ’15, but other than that they’re glorified bikes. With all of the space-age technology and magic present in the game, wouldn’t combat Sparrows, capable of shooting and battle, fit right in?A modder can make something along the lines of the Speeders in Star Wars. Sleek hover-bikes that allow you to fire upon enemies as you give chase through canyons, or during outdoors boss battles.

Imagine popping out of a tunnel on Mars only to strafe by some Cabal forces letting your mounted cannons do all the heavy lifting.It’s surprising that it isn’t already in the game, but modders could have certainly made this dream a reality. Ships In PlanetsThere are some really cool looking ships in Destiny. From sleek fighter jets, to huge ships that look like they can take a beating, there is no shortage of options. Unfortunately, all of these ships are used for nothing more than to make the load screens look pretty. You get to stare at them as you wait in orbit, or watch them fly when you select a mission.

After that, they’re gone, not to be seen until you back out of gameplay once more.Being able to actually pilot these machines within the levels of Destiny would be amazing. Some type of combat ability added would be cool, but just the sheer act of being able to swoop in is exciting enough of a prospect. Shared SubclassesThe subclasses in Destiny help players to build the characters they want to play to an extent.

Each of the three classes has their own set of skills that are slightly altered by the sub-classes. But, you’ll have to choose the base class they’re tied to in order to enjoy them. Imagine being able to play as the class you want and still use the subclass you want.Take the Titan for instance. Focused on defense and melee brawling, it is the Tank of Destiny. Now just stop and think how great it would be to use that Titan along with the Sunsinger subclass. Flame shields, self-resurrection, the ability to generate a ton of orbs for your team, and potent Solar abilities. Sounds like the perfect mix, right?

Or maybe even a Hunter using the Voidwalker set, mixing long-range assaults with deadly, close-range void abilities.Doesn’t sound like a bad idea for a Destiny mod, does it? Via Reddit user.One of the issues that constantly comes up with Destiny is the armor situation.

While the armor available in the game certainly looks cool, you will often see most people wearing the same thing. It’s not that they’re unoriginal, it’s just that it happens to be the most useful stuff in the game.

The modding community could certainly help out in this regard.Whether as brand new, fully functional armor, or just skin overlays, modding can take Guardian appearances to the next level. Unique armor sets brimming with the lore of the universe that Bungie has created would be a more than welcome edition. Riding into battle on your combat Sparrow decked out in gear forged in the depths of some unnamed planet, or experiencing battle with new armor abilities would definitely help strengthen the RPG side of Destiny. New Missions and LoreOne way that the modding community has been able to keep games such as Skyrim and Fallout 3 alive is through the introduction of new quests, missions, and story. These devoted fans use the foundation created by the developers and build new content in ways that fit right in without a hitch.Imagine discovering new areas on the moon, rich with Hive information and new enemy types. As you dive deeper, you discover more about the mysterious race and the terrors it has suffered at the hand of Oryx. Mods such as these would help to make the game world feel more alive, and definitely a lot more inviting.

New Weapon TypesDestiny is a first-person shooter because that is what Bungie is good at. The studio proved it with the first few Halo games and has stuck with what it does best. But the lore and nature of Destiny seems open for more variety thanks to the peculiar names chosen for the classes; Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks.Mods introducing staffs for Warlocks, or powerful gauntlets for Titans would definitely send all of the loot hoarders in the community into a frenzy.

New weapons can help to further differentiate each Guardian and even make the customization aspect of the game much better. Star WarsStar Wars makes everything better.

There’s just something about the universe, history, and fighting that perfectly fit with anything set in space. Gravity, the movie with Sandra Bullock floating in space, was amazing, but imagine the Death Star sitting in the background the entire time.

Now that would’ve been something special. A few introductions of the Star Wars universe in Destiny would sweeten the pot as well.New ship designs in the form of TIE Fighters, the Millennium Falcon, or even the Slave I. Swords being replaced by lightsabers complete with new attacks and sounds. Han Solo’s blaster as a side arm. All would fit in greatly. Modders can even add some new armor pieces such as Darth Vader’s helmet, or Captain Phasma’s complete set.

Yeah, you’d definitely be the talk of the Tower with any of this gear. Third PersonYeah we know, Destiny is a first-person shooter. That’s all well and good, but the game allows you to put on some pretty sweet looking armor. Everyone you play with and/or against gets to enjoy your fashion show, but not you. Not unless you have a sword equipped.There are some out there who wouldn’t mind playing in third-person, so if a mod could add that functionality in, it would definitely be a great option to have. Being able to watch you wreck aliens in all of your third-person glory will show you just how cool you look to that teammate watching you after they died. See the legend for yourself.

CompanionsSome of the challenges in Destiny are actually pretty difficult. If you have nobody to play with, that renders those parts of the game unplayable for you.

It may be that your friends don’t have the game, your schedule is horrible, or you’re just shy. Whatever the reason, not being able to overcome the toughest, most rewarding parts of Destiny is not a good feeling.A mod that adds AI-controlled Guardian companions would definitely be great for those who just can’t find a team. Destiny shines when teamwork is employed, and nobody should have to miss out on that experience.
