Gibson Les Paul Cracked Finish
This is definitely only a finish crack but as it was not always there I thought it best to seek the advice of some of you with more 'Les Paul' experience than myself.I bought the guitar new and I'm sure there was no crack then (I am extremely observant and would definitely have seen it). I only noticed it today when polishing the guitar.I live in the UK and so it doesn't really get exposed to any extremes of temperature and as I have a number of guitars, it is not played constantly.I was just wondering if this is something I should worry/bother about? Is this covered by the Gibson warranty, or simply something to pretty much expect with a 'nitro' finished guitar, no matter how well it is cared for? Thanks for taking time to read this guys, and for any advice you can give!Russ. Nothing to worry about, just the lacquer checking as the wood expands when the guitar warms up.If it's still under warranty and you decide to take it back to your dealer, who then it turn returns it to Gibson Europe for inspection. You will not get that guitar back. Siebel activity guide.
Gibson Custom Shop's 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is not just a tribute to the priceless original models - it's a clone of them. From laser-scanned dimensions to chemically-recreated plastics to color-matched shades of sunburst, every element has been rendered in. My new gibson Xplorer is starting to have cracks in the finish - straight lines in various. I wish my Les Paul would have done that.
They'll cut it in half and put your name in the queue for a replacement.Personally I say live with it, and if you can't, then take it to a good luthier who may be able to solvent some of it out, but it'll just happen in another area as it's a characteristic of the finish and not a defect.
